Latvia’s Day of Independence

The 18th of November marks the 86th Anniversary of proclamation Latvia as an independent sovereign state. On the eve of the holiday there took place several parties dedicated to the event…

The first one began at 9:30 a.m. The hall was decorated? The children, their parents and teachers were dressed up an excited. The performance of the kindergarten began. The parents and the teachers came with cameras to make photos and films. Everybody stood up to listen to the State’s Anthem. Then the children in Latvian sang a song about Riga. After they took part songs, dances and poems there was finished their nice performance by the older guests - the schoolchildren who study in the first form.

At 11 a.m. the Hall was occupied by the school children. The school party also began with the State’s Anthem. Then the youngest children recited the ancient legends, sang folk songs and recited Latvian poems. The girls dance group presented folk dances.

All the classes prepared some materials, and they were displayed in the Hall to view and admire. The concert was led by the girls from graduation class – Diana Fridlender and Diana Blumental simultaneously in Latvian and Russian.

Due to the excellent knowledge of the language, Latvian history and culture as well as the serious preparatory work the parties were interesting and everybody enjoyed them.
